    No Contract Phones for Short Term Moves

    I travel abroad a lot for business, so when my boss offered me a short term position in the Far East I jumped at the offer.  Unfortunately, it also meant that my cell phone would be more or less useless.  Since I was considering upgrading my phone anyway, I decided to buy a no contract cell phone.  It would allow me the freedom to use a prepaid SIM card or sign up for a carrier while abroad.  Then when I get home, I’ll be able to choose any carrier I want and my phone will still work.  It’s the best of both worlds.
