I Watched a Woman at the Gym do Isometric Exercises

I was doing a few floor exercises at the gym yesterday when I saw a new member counting out loud. She was doing Isometric Exercises and counting the amount of time that she holds each position. I watched her carefully and wondered why she would do that. When she finished, I approached her and asked. She said that speed in exercises is not what helps us gain strength or lose weight. Tightening muscles anywhere on the body and holding the position is what works out the muscle to its maximum potential. I tried a few of the exercises. I could feel the difference and understood what she meant.
