Eulogy Assignment: A Good Grade Was Hard to Come By

One of my most disturbing college assignments came when my professor asked us to write a fictional eulogy for a friend.  The class was on creative and different types of writing.  It was a lot harder than I thought.  First, it was difficult to write without thinking of the terrible thought of losing a friend.  Second, I found it difficult to strike a balance between the funny stories, the heartfelt remembrances, and the need to honor a life that was (fictionally) cut short.  I had to ask for two extensions to complete the project!  I ended up with a good grade, but it really stretched me.  I was glad when it was over!
